About
Nusenics is a Michigan State University spin-off dedicated to commercializing advanced fiber-optic sensor technologies. We are developing a novel fiber-optic bolometer designed to meet the demanding measurement challenges within fusion energy environments, such as intense electromagnetic interference, high temperatures, and radiation. Our approach leverages the inherent advantages of optical fibers to provide enhanced sensitivity, durability, and a compact form factor essential for next-generation fusion diagnostics.
At DIII-D
Through a DOE Office of Science-supported collaboration with Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Nusenics has been testing its fiber-optic bolometers at the DIII-D National Fusion Facility. The data collected during experimental campaigns has been critical for validating the technology’s performance and has significantly accelerated its path to commercialization.
